NB info for your appointment day

• Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your first appointment in order to complete the necessary documentation.
• The duration of the first appointment is normally 51-60 minutes.
• I submit claims on your behalf to your medical aid.  It is advisable to check with your medical aid what benefits are available for psychological services on your specific plan prior to your first consultation. Having this information available will assist us in formulating realistic treatment goals and priorities.
• I do not require a referral letter from your doctor, unless it is a requirement from your medical aid in order to approve funding.
• If you are making an appointment for your child, the first consultation will be conducted with you, the parents, in order to gain the necessary background information. Children under the age of 14 should not be present during this initial consultation. It is preferable for both parents to be present at this consultation, but if it is not practically possible, one parent will suffice.
• The focus of psychotherapy is therapeutic in nature and does not involve any legal or forensic work.
• My office is on the second floor of our building and you are required to climb a flight of stairs in order to get to my office. Should that be a problem to you, please verbalise it when you schedule your appointment so that I can make alternative arrangements prior to our appointment.
